Joined New York during the 2010 season on loan from Danish Superliga side, Vejle Boldklub and is scheduled to join Red Bull Salzburg on contract in 2011. Nielsen’s pace and quality service with both feet should prove to provide an immediate impact in the Red Bulls midfield.  He has played for 49 times for the various youth national teams in Denmark, most recently earning time in nine games for the U-21 team.

2005-10: First Division rivals Vejle BK signed Nielsen to a fully professional contract. In his first season, he helped Vejle BK to a successful promotion campaign into the Danish Superliga.  In his first top-flight season, Nielsen played 23 of 33 games and scored one goal as Vejle was relegated back to the First Division. The 2007-08 season once again saw Vejle BK top the First Division and earn promotion, but Nielsen’s five goals in the 2008-09 Superliga season were not enough to prevent another season of relegation. Nielsen is poised to join Red Bull Salzburg in January 2011 following his loan with the New York Red Bulls.

2004-05: Signed as a semi-professional player by Alademisk Boldklub of the second-tier Danish 1st Division.  Played 28 games and scored two goals.

Nielsen has earned 49 caps for various youth national teams, most recently appearing in nine games for the U-21 Danish National Team.
