SeniorSmir joined Minnesota United’s first team from MNUFC2, Minnesota United’s MLS NEXT pro team, where he became a solid presence in the net since the inaugural season for the Twos. Since 2022, the goalkeeper has made 26 game appearances (17 starts in net) in regular-season action. During the 2024 MLS NEXT Pro season, Smir made the start and earned a clean sheet following the 3-0 U.S. Open Cup First Round victory at Chicago House A.C. in March.
Smir signed his first Short-Term Agreement in early May 2024, making him available on the bench during the Loons’ 2-1 victory at home over Sporting Kansas City on April 27. After signing two more Short-Term Agreements, Smir was signed to a semi-guaranteed first team contract through 2024, with club options for 2025 and 2026.
During the 2024 regular season, Smir made his MLS and MNUFC debut on July 3, starting and playing the full 90 minutes against the Vancouver Whitecaps FC. The San Antonio native made three appearances in goal, finishing with a 0-2-1 record (W-L-D).
