HOW ACQUIRED: Traded from Houston Dynamo FC for Maxi Urruti on Jan. 18, 2021

Struna is an experienced center back who had 45 starts in 46 appearances in two seasons with Houston Dynamo FC and will look to help anchor the CF Montréal backline.

INTERNATIONAL: Struna has earned 21 caps for the Slovenian national team, including six starts for his country during the 2018 FIFA World Cup Qualifying campaign. He first represented his country at the Under-21 level six times from 2009-11 before making his full international debut on March 23, 2016 against Macedonia. He scored his first international goal in a European qualifying win over Poland in September.

OUTSIDE MLS: The 30-year-old made more than 200 career professional appearances across all competitions, including the Italian Serie A and in the UEFA Champions League. A vocal leader in the back, Struna wore the captain’s armband on multiple occasions for Palermo and with previous clubs.
