Yahoo Sports and Apple TV Team Up to Bring “The Cooligans” to a Live MLS Alternate Broadcast

MLS Apple TV Iphone Broadcast

NEW YORK (Wednesday, September 1, 2026) – Yahoo Sports and Apple TV are teaming up this season to deliver an alternate broadcast for select live Major League Soccer (MLS) matches, bringing fans a new way to experience the action with Yahoo Sports experts Alexis Guerreros and Christian Polanco of “The Cooligans.” The altcast will stream live across the Yahoo Sports website and app and feature unique camera angles.

Known for their entertaining and insightful soccer analysis on “The Cooligans,” Guerreros and Polanco will provide commentary and perspective throughout two marquee MLS matchups:

  • Wednesday, Sept. 16: The 2026 Michelob ULTRA Campeones Cup, featuring reigning MLS Cup champion Inter Miami CF against defending Liga MX champion Cruz Azul.
  • Wednesday, Oct. 28: Inter Miami CF vs. FC Cincinnati.

Each Yahoo Sports altcast will include pregame coverage and the full match, giving fans an alternative viewing experience alongside the main Apple TV broadcast. The altcasts will showcase a range of camera angles provided by Apple TV and MLS Productions, from the primary broadcast feed to distinctive perspectives, including a referee cam and a dedicated feed shot entirely on iPhone.

The partnership builds on the popularity of “The Cooligans,” which delivers soccer analysis and commentary from Guerreros and Polanco between games and across Yahoo Sports platforms. The live altcasts will bring their distinctive chemistry and perspective directly into the matchday experience, giving fans an entertaining alternative to the traditional broadcast.

In addition to delivering live match coverage, the partnership will give Yahoo Sports fans more ways to discover and engage with Apple TV's programming. The Yahoo Sports altcasts will feature direct links to the Apple TV app, where fans can subscribe and watch the main broadcast of the featured matchups, as well as the platform's full slate of MLS games.

Yahoo Sports also will promote Apple TV's global MLS coverage through on-site advertising, email marketing, social promotion, “how to watch” articles, Daily Draw games and other editorial and promotional channels.
