Weekly update: SuperLiga final, more

Kevin Harmse returns to action for the Galaxy this week.

The 2007 SuperLiga Final between the Los Angeles Galaxy and Pachuca of Mexico is sold-out for Wednesday, August 29 at The Home Depot Center in Carson, Calif., at 8 p.m. In partnership with California State, University, Dominguez Hills (CSUDH), capacity was capped at 12,500 to limit the traffic and parking impact on students in their first week of fall classes at CSUDH.

No additional tickets will be made available to fans walking up on the day of the game at the stadium. Therefore, fans without tickets are encouraged to watch this battle for regional soccer supremacy and an unprecedented $1 million prize live on TeleFutura and SuperLiga2007.com.

Pachuca defeated the Houston Dynamo on Aug. 14 in the first SuperLiga semifinal on penalty kicks. A day later, the Galaxy knocked off D.C. United 2-0, in a match that included David Beckham's first goal with the club, scoring with a first half free kick. Beckham, who was making his first-ever start with the Galaxy, then assisted on the second goal, setting up Landon Donovan to seal the victory.

Galaxy Team Notes

TUDELA AND CASO REGISTER FIRST MLS STARTS: Galaxy midfielders Josh Tudela and Mike Caso both registered their first career MLS starts on Sunday in the 3-0 loss to the Colorado Rapids at Dick's Sporting Goods Park. With eight of the Galaxy's regular starters unavailable for Sunday's game, the two rookies stepped in to fill the depleted midfield.

Tudela was selected during the second round of the 2007 SuperDraft by the Galaxy. Before joining the Galaxy, Tudela helped Indiana win a pair of NCAA Champions in 2003 and 2004, and a 2006 Big Ten Player of the Year award. Tudela had appeared in all five of the Galaxy's Reserve Division games so far this season, while also playing five times on loan with the California Victory of the USL-First Division.

Caso signed with the Galaxy last month. The former University of San Diego forward appeared in and started all five of the Galaxy's Reserve Division games so far this season, scoring once and adding an assist, before making his debut on first team Sunday.

GALAXY GET SESAY: On Friday the Galaxy added U.S. Under-17 National Team forward Israel Sesay to the roster when the club was awarded his rights at a weighted lottery held at the MLS offices in New York City. The 16-year old native of Sierra Leone has been selected as a member of Major League Soccer's Generation adidas program meaning that he will occupy one of the three available spots on the Galaxy's Developmental Roster and his salary will not count toward the club's salary budget.

Sesay, who will turn 17 next month, moved to the United States from his native Sierra Leone in 2001 at the age of 11, settling with his family in Gaithersburg, Md. Sesay, who goes by the nickname Izzy, played for local club team Bethesda Arsenal and joined U.S. Soccer's Residency Program in August 2006. He has played in 14 games with the U.S. Under-17 '90 age group since 2006, appearing in 14 games while making ten starts and collecting three assists.

HARMSE RETURNS FROM SUSPENSION: Midfielder Kevin Harmse, who missed Saturday's game in Colorado after receiving a red card during the match-up against Chivas USA last week, will be available for this weekend's MLS match against Real Salt Lake. The 23-year old has started in ten games for the Galaxy, registering one goal. Harmse has played in all but one of the SuperLiga games, missing the first game against Pachuca, registering one goal in those three appearances.

DONOVAN REACHES DOUBLE DIGITS: Galaxy forward Landon Donovan became the first Galaxy player to reach double figures in goals this season, striking his 10th goal in all competition on August 18 in New York. Donovan's second half strike was his team-leading fifth of the regular season. The 25-year old forward also leads the Galaxy with four goals this season in SuperLiga and is tied for the team lead with one in the Open Cup. For his career, Donovan has 44 goals in a Galaxy uniform in all official competitions, which include the MLS regular season, MLS postseason, CONCACAF Champions Cup, Lamar Hunt U.S Open Cup and SuperLiga.

Donovan's 44 goals place him in a tie with Mauricio Cienfuegos for third place in club history in all-time goals.
