RSL First XI

Preseason Update: RSL Continues Argentina Trip with 3-0 Win over Jockey Club Rosario

Real Salt Lake picked up the first win of its scrimmage slate in Argentina on Sunday, as the Utah squad used goals by DF Nat Borchers, FW Kenny Deuchar and MF Matias Cordoba to notch a 3-0 victory over Jockey Club Rosario. RSL's first-team took the field for the opening stanza and used the first tallies of the preseason by Borchers and Deuchar to take a 2-0 lead heading into the break. RSL's insertion of eight new players at the half would not change the tide, as the squad's defense and GK Kyle Reynish held on for the clean sheet, while the Argentine Cordoba put the final touches on the result with a conversion from the penalty spot in the closing minute.

RSL Training Camp Notes

• Sunday's match marked the first action in Argentina for MF Kyle Beckerman and FW Yura Movsisyan. Beckerman got back to action for the first time since suffering a bruised left foot while with the U.S. Men's National Team in late January, while Movsisyan rejoined his teammates in Argentina last Friday after paperwork issues delayed his trip to South America.
• Real Salt Lake will close out its stay in Argentina with two more scrimmages, as RSL's reserve side will face off against Central Cordoba (Primera B Metropolitana/Third Division) on Tuesday, while the first team will square off against Rosario Central (Primera División Argentina/First Division) on Wednesday before the squad returns stateside later that evening.
• RSL Communications would like to issue a correction from last Wednesday's game recap against Newell's Old Boys, in which it was stated that RSL scrimmaged both the first-team and the reserve team of the Argentine squad. In the first match of the day, RSL took away 1-1 draw against an NOB squad consisting of primarily reserve team members, not NOB's first-team as previously stated.
