Galaxy Team Notes

OPEN CUP BERTH AT STAKE: On Sunday the Galaxy will travel to Columbus, Ohio ahead of their Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup Play-In Game against the Columbus Crew on Tuesday, April 24. With a win over the Crew in the play-in, the Galaxy, who won the Open Cup in 2001 and 2005 and reached the Final in 2002 and 2006, will advance to the next round of Open Cup qualifying where they will host the New York Red Bulls at The Home Depot Center.

The winner of that game will then be entered into the Open Cup where they will begin play with seven other MLS teams in the Third Round of the competition.

Since first entering the U.S. Open Cup in 1999, the Galaxy are 0-2 against the Crew, falling 3-1 in the 1999 Quarterfinals and losing 1-0 in the 2002 U.S. Open Cup Final.

FINDLEY OPENS HIS GOAL ACCOUNT: Galaxy rookie Robbie Findley scored his club's first goal of the season, getting on the end of a Landon Donovan corner kick and dispatching it past Dallas goalkeeper Shaka Hislop late in L.A.'s 2-1 loss on Thursday night.

With the goal, Findley became the first 2007 MLS SuperDraft selection to score in a regular season MLS game this season and the first Galaxy rookie to score in a regular season game since Michael Enfield scored in a 1-1 draw with New England on July 4, 2005.

HARMSE SEALED; MAKES DEBUT: On Thursday afternoon the Galaxy official completed the signing of Canadian National Team midfielder Kevin Harmse. The 22-year old Vancouver native had been training with the Galaxy for most of the preseason and was cleared to play just hours before his new club's game against FC Dallas on Thursday. Harmse would eventually come on at halftime of that game to make his MLS debut, playing the final 45 minutes in central midfield, collecting a 53rd minute yellow card.
