As we enter Heineken Rivalry Week, what is the most frequent matchup in MLS history?

As it turns out, one of the games that is featured during Heineken Rivalry Week has been the one MLS fans have seen the most over the last 20 years.


The New York Red Bulls and D.C. United have faced off a total of 78 times, the most in MLS history. D.C. United hold the decided edge in the series, winning 40 of their 78 games against New York, with 12 games ending in a draw.


They are set to rehash that rivalry on Sunday (7 pm ET; FOX Sports 1/FOX Deportes/FOX Sports GO/TSN2) in a battle of the East's top two teams.
