Atlanta United defeat Nashville SC 3-1 in away friendly

2018 preseason - Leandro Gonzalez Pirez - Atlanta United - Nashville SC

Atlanta United helped Nashville SC kick off their history, as the MLS side defeated the newcomers 3-1 in Nashville in a preseason friendly on Saturday.

Nashville SC kept the game, their first ever, scoreless through the first half. But the floodgates opened in a rainy venue in the second 45, as Josef Martinez opened the scoring for the visitors, followed by an equalizer by Nashville's Ropapa Mensah. Brandon Vasquez put the Five Stripes ahead for good, and Romario Williams added an insurance tally for Atlanta.

Ezequiel Barco made his debut for Atlanta, starting the match and playing 45 minutes before being substituted at the half.

Nashville SC will play in USL in 2018. Their debut comes just weeks after Nashville was announced as one of the latest MLS expansion cities.
