Vancouver Whitecaps FC forward Caleb Clarke (above, right) scored twice as Canada’s Under-20 national team defeated their Costa Rican counterparts 2-0 in a friendly in San José on Wednesday.

Nick Dasovic’s men could have had even had more as midfielder Samuel Piette had a shot go off the crossbar in a game played at the Costa Rican federation’s national training facility in the Central American capital. Toronto FC's Doneil Henry wore the captain's armband.

Both teams are preparing for February’s CONCACAF Under-20 Championship that also serves as a qualifying tournament for next summer’s FIFA U-20 World Cup in Turkey.

Canada were drawn into Group B in the CONCACAF tournament alongside Cuba and Nicaragua, while Costa Rica ended up in Group A alongside the US and Haiti.
