Vancouver Whitecaps FC announced on Friday they have mutually agreed to a contract termination with midfielder Efrain Juarez.

The 30-year-old spent the 2018 season with Vancouver after being transferred from Monterrey. The former Mexican international struggled in his time there, however, making 16 MLS regular season appearances, notching two assists and picking up two red cards last season.

“We are thankful to Efraín for his time with the club and we wish him all the best,” said Whitecaps FC vice president of soccer operations Greg Anderson in a statement.

The departure continues a roster transformation in Vancouver under new head coach Marc Dos Santos. The Whitecaps will open the 2019 MLS regular season on March 2 at home against Minnesota United FC.
