It's long been rumored but on Friday it became official. US youth international striker Haji Wright signed with German Bundesliga club Schalke.
The 18-year-old announced the signing via his twitter account. He has had several training stints with the storied club over the past few years.
Wright spent the 2015 season with the New York Cosmos of the NASL, appearing in three games for the club totaling 80 minutes.
A decorated prospect, Wright was part of the Under-17 national team that participated in the World Cup last fall. He appeared in all three games for the US, as they were eliminated from the tournament during the group stage.
A Los Angeles native, Wright came up through the LA Galaxy academy before setting his sights on Europe.
UPDATE: Wright scored two goals in his debut with the Schalke U-19 team on Saturday.
