US men’s national team defender DeAndre Yedlin is on the move to Turkey, joining Galatasaray from Newcastle United on a Transfer Deadline Day deal Monday.

The former Seattle Sounders FC homegrown standout, whose contract with Newcastle was set to expire in June, agreed to a three-and-a-half-year deal with the Turkish giants. In recent weeks, he had also been linked with a move back to MLS.

Instead, Yedlin moves to Galatasaray on a free transfer, though Newcastle will reportedly receive performance-based bonuses and a percentage of a sell-on fee, according to ESPN.

The 27-year-old right back, who has been capped 62 times since making his USMNT debut in 2014, made 125 appearances for Newcastle United since a move from Tottenham Hotspur in 2016.

Yedlin, a Seattle native, spent the 2013 and 2014 seasons with the Sounders, appearing in 62 regular-season and postseason matches before signing with Spurs in August 2014.
