US to face Spain at Gillette Stadium on June 4

The United States play Spain on June 4.

On the eve of the United States' friendly against Argentina, the US Soccer Federation announced on Friday that Bob Bradley's men will face World Cup champions Spain on June 4 at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Mass.

The game will be a final tune-up before the US begin group play of the Gold Cup three days later.

“Spain is clearly one of the most talented teams in the world,” Bradley said in a statement. “We value the opportunity to test ourselves against a team of their quality, and we couldn’t ask for a better match to prepare for the Gold Cup.”

It will be the fifth meeting all-time between the sides. The two squads last faced off in the semifinals of the 2009 Confederations Cup, a 2-0 victory for the US that ended the European side's 35-game unbeaten streak.

The Stars and Stripes and La Roja have never played one another on US soil before.
