United to collect school supplies

Washington, D.C. (September 6, 2007) - D.C. United announced today plans to collect school supplies during the month of September via the United Drives program. Supplies will be collected at all three United home games taking place this month, beginning with Sunday's 3:00 p.m. ET match with the New England Revolution. Donations will go to support the club's non-profit arm, United for D.C., and its six adopted schools in Wards 7 and 8.

"It's the time of year when the entire D.C. area is focusing on heading back to school," said United Manager of Community Relations Aprile Pritchet. "The donations made during our schools supplies drives helps to ensure that the disadvantaged youth of our area have what they need in order to further their education."

Fans who donate an item will receive a "Buy One, Get One Free" ticket voucher, valid for any remaining 2007 D.C. United regular season home games and a D.C. United promotional item. In addition to Sunday's game, fans can contribute school supplies at United's Sept. 12 game versus Real Salt Lake (7:30 p.m. ET) and on Sept. 29 when Toronto FC visits RFK Stadium (7:30 p.m. ET). Fans may also donate at any time throughout the month at the club's offices, located on the fourth floor (Gate A) of RFK Stadium.

United Drives donations are accepted at every D.C. United Major League Soccer regular season home game at RFK Stadium. The collection bin is located outside Gate A and is open from two hours prior to the game until 15 minutes after kick-off. Donations are also accepted in the D.C. United offices, located on the fourth floor at RFK Stadium's Gate A. This season marks the seventh year of the United Drives campaign, which collects a different item each month to benefit D.C.-area non-profit organizations.
