Toronto FC announced Wednesday that the club has re-signed defender Justin Morrow to a multi-year extension on the heels of his two most productive MLS seasons.

The 30-year-old Morrow will be entering his fifth season with Toronto, and the left wingback flourished in Toronto's 3-5-2 formation last season.

Morrow scored a career-high eight league goals in 2017 before helping the Reds to their first-ever MLS Cup title and a treble. At the same time, he was a member of a defense that conceded a league-low 37 goals. Those performances helped him earn a place on the Best XI.

The year before that, Morrow had five goals and four assists as Toronto reached its first MLS Cup final.

“Justin is one of the players who has led our turnaround as a club over the last few seasons,” Toronto senior VP of soccer operations and GM Tim Bezbatchenko said in a statement. “He has played such an important part in what we have accomplished as a club and will continue to as we compete for more championships.”

Morrow has also re-emerged on the US national team picture, receiving his fourth cap after the program's January camp in a 0-0 draw with Bosnia-Herzegovina.
