TRANSFER TRACKER STATUS: Re-Signed

One of the most important pieces in Toronto FC’s treble-winning season is headed back to BMO Field.

TFC announced on Friday that veteran center back Drew Moor has re-signed with the club on a one-year contract with an option for 2019. Moor, who first joined Toronto as a free agent ahead of the 2016 season, was out of contract and a free agent.

“Few words can express what it means to me and my family to continue representing Toronto FC. We have experienced a lot of special moments both on and off the field in Toronto, the club has given us so much these past two years and there is nowhere else we’d want to be,” Moor said in a statement. “I can’t wait to get back to work with my teammates, coaches and staff ahead of the 2018 season as we defend our MLS Cup championship.”

Moor, 33, made 34 appearances in the regular season, playoffs and Canadian Championship in 2017, helping the club to their record-breaking regular season and Supporters’ Shield, Canadian Championship and MLS Cup titles. The Indiana University product has made a combined 384 appearances in regular season and playoff action, recording 27 goals and eight assists in his 13-year MLS career. He currently ranks eighth in league history among outfield players with 361 career regular season appearances.

Moor has twice won MLS Cup, first in 2010 with the Colorado Rapids and again last week with TFC.

“Drew has been an important part of our club’s successes for the past two seasons. Both sides eagerly wanted to ensure this partnership would continue beyond 2017,” said Toronto FC GM Tim Bezbatchenko. “He and his family chose Toronto two years ago as a free agent. We’re happy they have committed to stay and that we’re able to keep a man of great character as well as an important, experienced leader as we defend our championship next season.”
