D.C. United opened play in the 2019 Suncoast Invitational with a 1-0 win over tournament host Tampa Bay Rowdies at Al Lang Stadium in St. Petersburg, Florida on Saturday evening.
D.C. started with a strong lineup against their USL Championship opposition, and the only goal of the game came late in the first half, as Luciano Acosta set up Paul Arriola with some fancy footwork.
