TRANSFER TRACKER STATUS:Roster Update
Sporting Kansas City announced Tuesday they have waived defender Kevin Ellis and forward Zach Wright, news that could clear the way for Ellis to officially join the Chicago Fire, FC Dallas or another MLS team.
Despite having made 90 appearances for SKC over seven seasons, the Homegrown Player Ellis had been given permission to train elsewhere, first going on trial with Dallas and then Chicago more recently.
At one point it appeared Kansas City might try to work a trade for Ellis' rights. Now he'll be available on waivers to all MLS teams in the reverse order of their finish last season. Were Dallas still interested, they could claim him before Chicago. Another MLS team could also make a claim.
Sporting waived Wright just a bit more than a month after signing the former SKC Academy and North Carolina collegiate player to a Homegrown contract.
