FC Dallas have stated their desire to add a couple key veterans to their promising young core this offseason.

A league source has told MLSsoccer.com that one of those will be Palmeiras defensive midfielder Thiago Santos.

The move for the 30-year-old No. 6, first reported by Globo Esporte, is near completion and may owe at least partly to a family connection, the Brazilian outlet pointed out: Current FCD technical director Andre Zanotta's brother Alexandre Zanotta is a vice president at Palmerias.

The league source tells MLSsoccer.com Santos is choosing a move to Dallas head of Brazilian clubs Gremio, Athletico Mineiro and Athletico Paranense.

Santos has spent his entire pro career in Brazil and at Palmeiras since 2015, where he's made at least 18 appearances in each of the last four Brazilian Serie A campaigns.

The 26-year-old Bryan Acosta is Dallas' most seasoned regular contributor in defensive midfield. The 19-year-old Paxton Pomykal and 20-year-old Brandon Servania have also played there for coach Luchi Gonzalez.
