Brazil's UOL Esporte and SounderAtHeart have both reported that the Sounders have made a bid for Gregore. The Brazilian would add to a position of strength for the Sounders, as the club already has Svensson, Delem and Leyva on the defensive midfielder depth chart.

It's been a slow start to the offseason for defending MLS Cup champions Seattle Sounders, who have yet to make an addition to their roster, though that may soon change.

According to Seattle-based reporter Niko Moreno, the club are interested in signing Brazilian defensive midfielder Gregore.

The 26-year-old Gregore initially joined EC Bahia on loan two years ago before the deal was made permanent last year. In 2019, he helped guide the club to a mid-table finish in the Brazilian top flight, making 34 league appearances.

The Sounders have Gustav Svensson and Cristian Roldan as regulars in defensive midfield, with the likes of Jordy Delem and Emanuel Cecchini as options in central midfield. Danny Leyva, a 16-year-old Homegrown Player, began breaking into the team last year.

Seattle have 18 players under contract for 2020 after losing the likes of Roman Torres, Kim Kee-Hee, Victor Rodriguez and Brad Smith thus far this offseason without yet adding a player. The club open preseason soon — their competitive campaign kicks off on February 20 in the Concacaf Champions League against Saprissa.
