The San Jose Earthquakes have added three pieces to their 2018 roster, announcing the signings of defender Jimmy Ockford, midfielder Luis Felipe and midfielder Chris Wehan on Thursday from the Earthquakes' USL affiliate, Reno 1868 FC.

Ockford (pictured above) is the only player of the three with previous MLS experience. The 25-year-old center back was drafted by the Seattle Sounders in 2014, making one MLS regular season appearance across two seasons for the Cascadia side. Ockford joined Reno for their expansion season in 2017, becoming a lock on the backline as they reached the USL Cup Playoffs in their inaugural campaign.

The 21-year-old Luis Felipe was a midseason signing by Reno, notching five goals and three assists in 27 appearances. The New York-born, Brazilian-raised midfielder came through the Cruzeiro youth system and is eligible for both Brazil and the US.

Wehan completed his debut professional season with Reno in 2017, earning USL Rookie of the Year honors and notching the most assists, 12, in the league this year. Wehan was also named to the 2017 USL All-League first team.

"We are very excited to welcome these three players from our affiliate in Reno," said Earthquakes general manager Jesse Fioranelli in a team statement. "Reno has been a great asset to us and had a tremendous inaugural season in 2017. Jimmy, Chris and Luis Felipe were a major reason for their success and we are looking forward to their contributions and continued development in San Jose."
