Kofi Sarkodie is on the move.

The defender, with the Houston Dynamo since entering MLS in 2011, has been traded to the San Jose Earthquakes, both clubs announced on Friday. In exchange, Houston received targeted allocation money in the sign-and-trade deal.

The 25-year-old has made 124 appearances across all competitions (98 MLS regular season appearances) since 2011 after being drafted out of the University of Akron. He has 10 assists in his career during the MLS regular season, and was named Dynamo Defender of the Year in 2013. Following the trade, he'll be reunited with San Jose head coach Dominic Kinnear, who Sarkodie played for in Houston from 2011-14.

"Kofi is a good professional, works hard and is versatile," said Kinnear in a team statement. "He can play either side, right or left. He can spell you in the midfield if you need that too. Good attitude, good person, is going to fit well into the locker room and adds good depth to our squad. We know he can play and he's going to help us."
