Transfer-window rumors continue to swirl around Sporting Kansas City, with futbolecuador.com reporting on Wednesday that the Eastern Conference leaders are negotiating with the representatives of Ecuadorian winger Luis Alberto Bolaños about a possible transfer.

A former teammate of Sporting Designated Player Claudio Bieler at LDU Quito, the 28-year-old Bolaños has experience in the Ecuadorian, Brazilian and Mexican leagues and currently plays for Argentine club San Martín de San Juan.

Apparently Bolaños, widely known by his nickname “Chucho,” was considered by the Chicago Fire before their capture of his countryman, Juan Luis Anangonó. The report states that Bolaños' agent is currently in the United States to negotiate a move for his client, with another, unnamed MLS club also showing interest.

“We will try to close it today, not with the Chicago Fire, but there is a possibility in Kansas,” LDU Quito executive Esteban Paz told Ecuadorian radio program Área Deportiva. “Another possibility also opened up in MLS and we are hoping to define that today.”

Bolaños himself is training with LDU to stay fit as he waits on news of a possible northward move.

Sporting KC officials declined to comment on the report when contacted by MLSsoccer.com.
