Rumor Central: Alejandro Bedoya moving from Helsingborg to Twente in Holland? | THE SIDELINE

Alejandro Bedoya with Helsingborg

This is exactly the scenario US national team midfielder Alejandro Bedoya envisioned.

The 26-year-old signed a six-month contract with Swedish side Helsingborg at the start of 2013 with the goal of being a free agent in the summer, when even more options would present themselves on the European scene.

Dutch club FC Twente look to be the first club to show interest according to a report in Sweden's Helsingborgs Dagblad. It helps that Bedoya showed well in the Europa League clash between Helsingborg and Twente back in December 2012 (watch the clip below).

"Part of the reason I stayed on another short-term deal is there will probably be more and better avenues in the summer," Bedoya told MLSsoccer.com's Greg Seltzer in February.

Meanwhile, Bedoya will hope to catch the eye of even more suitors in the showcase provided by the CONCACAF Gold Cup, where he hopes to add to his 16 caps.

He was named to Jurgen Klinsmann's 23-man roster for the group stage of the tournament which kicks off for the USA on July 9 in Portland. The Yanks will play Guatemala in a tune-up friendly on July 5 in San Diego.

Bedoya is primed for a jump to one of Europe's bigger leagues after making his name in Sweden with stints at Örebro and Helsingborg sandwiching an unsuccessful run with now downtrodden Scottish giants Rangers FC.

But Helsingborg are not giving up hope of retaining the man who's caught the eye with five goals and four assists in 12 league appearances in 2013. Sporting director Jesper Jansson says the club will still make a push to keep Bedoya, but it's hard to believe the Swedish side will be able to compete with the Dutch Eredivisie.
