Luis Caicedo - Ecuador - Press Conference

Is there room in MLS for two Luis Caicedos? Maybe we'll find out

In a recent interview with TV station Ecuavisa, Gonzalo Vargas, the agent that represents Ecuadorian center back Luis Caicedo said the 27-year-old is looking for a new club after spending a season with Tiburones de Veracruz in Liga MX.

That's not to be confused with the Colombian 23-year-old of the same name currently playing midfield for the New England Revolution.

As for the center back, he made 17 appearances for Veracruz in the league. He also played five times for the Ecuador national team in their failed qualifying campaign for the 2018 FIFA World Cup.

Vargas says it's normal his client would rather not return to the Ecuadorian league after seeing his clock run out in Mexico.

“His time with Veracruz finished, an agreement couldn’t be reached to buy his rights (at the end of his loan)," Vargas indicated in the interview. “He has the possibility of finding any team. He has two options here (in Ecuador) and another in MLS, the priority of every player is abroad.”
