Ricketts wins NAPA Save of the Week

Galaxy goalkeeper Donovan Ricketts earned the NAPA Save of the Week in the team's win over Columbus.

Los Angeles Galaxy goalkeeper Donovan Ricketts has won the fan vote for the NAPA Save of the Week for Week 10.

The Jamaican goalkeeper won nearly 36 percent of the vote for tipping a Steven Lenhart header over the crossbar as the Galaxy secured a 2-0 win last Saturday. Ricketts beat out last week’s winner, Kansas City’s Jimmy Nielsen, whose kick save actually led to a Real Salt Lake goal. Toronto FC’s, Stefan Frei, Columbus’ William Hesmer and Chivas USA’s Zach Thornton were the other candidates from the weekend.

The 16th minute save by Ricketts was one of only four saves he was required to make on the night as the Galaxy maintained their unbeaten record by knocking off the previously undefeated Crew in Columbus.

The Galaxy now take their league-leading form to The Home Depot Center, where they get set to welcome the Houston Dynamo this Saturday (8 p.m. ET, Galavision).
