Revolution 6, Rapids 1 -- quote sheet

NEW ENGLAND REVOLUTION 6, COLORADO RAPIDS 1

REVOLUTION HEAD COACH STEVE NICOL

On the first half:
"The difference tonight from the other night was we put the ball in the net tonight. It makes a difference. It gives confidence all around the team -- defensively or attacking -- scoring goals just helps unbelievably."

On forwards Taylor Twellman and Pat Noonan:
"The strikers have been working hard in training -- plenty of crosses, plenty of shots -- and it's paid off tonight."

On the Revolution's position in the Eastern Conference:
"The big thing for us is we have to win games. I'm not going say that the other (teams) results aren't nice, but at the end of the day, we've got everything in our own hands."

REVOLUTION FORWARD PAT NOONAN

On the momentum gained from the victory:
"We are capable of doing that and there's no excuses not to continue that. Now it's in our hands. You know, we are two points behind Chicago and we get to play them twice. I think we like the situation we are in. We obviously need to move on and go into Chicago and give the same effort."

REVOLUTION DEFENDER RUSTY PIERCE

On bouncing back from 1-0 down:
"Even when they got their goal, I thought we were playing better than they were. It's kind of the opposite of last week. We were ahead 2-0, but I didn't feel like we were playing well. But we got fortunate and got two goals early and I thought New York had the run of play. But tonight, it was the exact opposite. They got the first goal, but I think everybody felt completely secure in the fact that we were going to be able to out play them today with the motivation we had and the sense of urgency we had. We were playing well and the movement was good."

REVOLUTION DEFENDER STEVE RALSTON:

On playing right fullback:
"All week we planned on me playing right midfield. But then Steve Howey picked up an injury and we changed the whole thing around and I ended up finding out I was playing right back last night. And to be honest, I wasn't thrilled about it. I wanted to played right midfield again. But if it turns out like it did tonight I'll play right back the rest of my career."

RAPIDS HEAD COACH TIM HANKINSON

On rebounding from this defeat:
"It's better to have your butt kicked before the end of the season so that there is a fresh reminder of what a night like tonight feels like. Right now it's clearly not a good feeling. But our boys will take a great deal of reflection on this and we'll prepare ourselves better to defend and take care of the ball in our half and then create more chances for ourselves."

On learning from this loss:
"You can't just throw away a result at this point of the year. You have to take a close look at why we gave up so many and why we didn't create more. That's something that we'll spend Monday through Friday looking at."

RAPIDS DEFENDER RITCHIE KOTSCHAU

On the loss:
"You can't just put it behind you, you have to learn from it. What did we do wrong and how can we go about fixing them and making sure that we don't repeat them in the final three games."

RAPIDS MIDFIELDER/FORWARD JORDAN CILA

On rebounding from the defeat:
"We just have to remember this feeling. Things have been going well, but we're not going to plat every single game perfectly and tonight was a lot worse than we hoped. But a loss is a loss whether its 1-0 or 6-1 and we just have to work hard this week in practice and go out and get a good result in Kansas City (next weekend.)"
