Revolution 1, RSL 0 -- quote sheet

NEW ENGLAND REVOLUTION 1, REAL SALT LAKE 0

REAL SALT LAKE HEAD COACH JOHN ELLINGER

On tonight's game:
"The effort was better tonight, but the bottom line was still a negative result. We played a 3-4-3 tonight to keep the pressure coming down the front, everything was positive except the final result and everyone is down about the final result. We had more of a fighting spirit tonight and played more physically."

On the goal:
"They made a quick counter off the corner kick and went all the way down the field and scored. When you are riding a positive ride like the New England Revolution is riding those types of things happen to you."

REAL SALT LAKE MIDFIELDER SETH TREMBLY

On tonight's game:
"We definitely played better on the defensive side of the ball. It is a tough loss for us because we needed the three points. We definitely were the better team today, but the luck was not on our side."

REAL SALT LAKE FORWARD MELVIN TARLEY

On tonight's game:
"It was great to play in front of the home crowd for the first time, the crowd was great. I am used to the turf because that is what I played on in Minnesota with the Thunder. The atmosphere here with the fans and my teammates is help to feel comfortable."

On the game play in the MLS:
"The game is fast and the strength of players is different. You have to play the ball fast and use your strength. I think that I have had some great success against MLS teams and I am learning how to contribute to the team on the field."

NEW ENGLAND REVOLUTION HEAD COACH STEVE NICOL

On tonight's game:
"I am just happy with a win. I don't think we played very well. It wasn't a good game from either team. Khano Smith was impressive tonight; he came into the game and three minutes later he scored the game-winner."

NEW ENGLAND REVOLUTION FORWARD KHANO SMITH

On his goal:
"I like to run at people, and it felt good to open up my legs and take on a defender. I was just trying to get the shot to the far post because I knew goalkeeper was going to cheat and I knew I had to get it by him."

NEW ENGLAND REVOLUTION GOALKEEPER MATT REIS

On tonight's game:
"Shutouts are definitely a team thing, but the goalkeeper gets the credit for them and I know the guys in front of me take a lot of credit in a shutout. It is great to come on the road, shut a team out and get three points."
