Reserves: NE 4, NY 0

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. - The New England Revolution reserves improved to 6-3-1 on the season with a convincing 4-0 victory over the New York Red Bulls reserves on Saturday night at Giants Stadium. Adam Cristman scored two first-half goals and newly-signed Gambian youth internationals Sainey Nyassi and Abdoulie Mansally each tallied second-half strikes to lead the Revs to the victory.

New England goalkeepers Doug Warren and Brad Knighton split time in goal to record the Revs' fourth shutout in reserve division action this year.

In the 17th minute, Cristman was taken down by Blake Camp as they both jostled for the ball off a Wells Thompson corner and a penalty kick was awarded. Cristman calmly slotted the ball past the diving Jon Conway to give the Revs a 1-0 lead.

Cristman doubled the Revolution in the 20th minute when Camp slipped while tracking back, allowing Cristman to walk in alone and put it past Jon Conway giving the Revs a 2-0

The game got a bit more intense as the first half grew longer as Jozy Altidore and Thompson were given matching yellow cards in the 41st minute for pushing and shoving each other in front of the Red Bulls bench.

New York came out much stronger in the second half creating some good opportunities from the whistle. John Wolyniec collected an Elie Ikangu pass on the right and crossed it into the box, but Knighton blocked it away to an awaiting Chris Karcz who sent the ball over the bar on the rebound attempt.

In the 79th minute, Sinisa Ubiparipovic just missed getting the Bulls on the scoreboard when his bid from 30 yards out was again pushed over the bar by Knighton.

The Revs put the game out of reach in the 84th minute when Nyassi headed Thompson's corner kick service past Red Bulls substitute keeper Danny Cepero. New England then added another goal in stoppage time as Mansally who beat Cepero from just outside the penalty area after Nyassi's cross from the left got kicked around in traffic.

The Revolution reserves (6-3-1, 19 pts.) return to action on Sunday, Oct. 7, when they travel to face the Chicago Fire reserves at 10 a.m.
