Reserves: Crew 3, FC Dallas 2

The Columbus Crew defeated FC Dallas, 3-2, in reserve division action Sunday at adidas Field at Pizza Hut Park. The win improves the Crew to 3-3-1 (10 pts.) in the MLS Reserve Division this season, while the FC Dallas Reserves fall to 2-4-1 (7 pts.).

Columbus drew first blood in the 22nd minute when Ricardo Virtuoso cut through the FC Dallas defense and dropped a pass to Kei Kamara who stung a shot past Dallas goalkeeper Boris Pardo, and into the back of the net.

Dallas drew even, minutes before the halftime whistle, when Ricardinho's service into the area found Sandi Gbandi, whose header from eight yards out beat the Crew's Andy Gruenebam.

Columbus again took the lead in the 77th minute as MNT U-20 standout Robbie Rogers slipped a nice through ball into space for Andy Herron, who slotted a low shot past Pardo into the net.

Rogers scored a goal of his own, which eventually proved to be the game-winner, just minutes later. Virtuoso again served a nice ball into the area that found Rogers wide open, who calmly tucked the ball away from ten yards out.

FC Dallas made a last gasp in the 84th minute on a goal from defender Bobby Rhine from near midfield. Chase Wileman received the ball on the left wing just inside his own half, and passed to Rhine in the center of the pitch. Seeing that the Columbus goalkeeper was off his line, Rhine knocked a shot from the center circle which sailed just out over the outstretched arms of Gruenebaum and into the back of the net.

The Crew Reserve squad will not see action again until September 2, when it faces Colorado at home, while the FC Dallas Reserves are schedule to take on the Houston Dynamo Reserve squad next Sunday, August 19 in Houston.
