Reserves: Chivas USA 2, Dynamo 1

The Houston Dynamo got its third loss in Reserve League play tonight, falling to Chivas USA 2-1 at Robertson Stadium.

Chivas USA started the game on the offensive, and was able to open up the score at the 20th minute, courtesy of Matt Taylor. Taylor took advantage of an error by the Dynamo defense, to easily put the 1-0 up on the board.

Both teams neutralized each other's attacks during the remainder of the first 45 minutes, enabling Chivas to hold its advantage once halftime rolled in.

In the second half, the game developed into a physical power struggle in the midfield area. Chivas, however, managed to score once more at the 53rd minute. Aaron Lanes attempted to pass the ball to Zach Wells, but Matt Taylor intercepted the pass to score his second goal of the night.

Houston got itself on the board at the 75th minute with a violent shot from 30 yards out by Stuart Holden. This was the first goal of the season for Holden, who is also in his first season with the club. His goal, however, was not enough, as Houston was unable to equalize.

With the 2-1 loss, Houston (3-3-0) remains in third place in Reserve League standings, with 9 points. Chivas USA (2-1-2) now has 8 points, and moves to fifth place in the standings.

The Dynamo reserves will see action once more on Sunday, July 16, against the Kansas City Wizards, while Chivas USA will face off that same day against the Los Angeles Galaxy at The Home Depot Center.
