Reserves: Chivas USA 2, Crew 0

COUMBUS, Ohio - The Columbus Crew Reserves suffered a 2-0 defeat to the Chivas USA Reserves on Sunday morning, October 2, at The Crew training facility in Obetz.


        The bad luck started early for The Crew when forward Cornell Glen was sent off with a red card in the 19th minute for a violent challenge.  The Crew were then forced to play a man down for the rest of the game.  </p>


        The first half went by scoreless, as The Crew defense stood strong in the disadvantage.  Chivas was finally able to break down the defense early in the second half.  In the 52nd minute, Chivas forward Rodrigo Lopez volleyed an attempted Crew clearance into the top left corner of the net to notch the winning goal for his team.</p>


        Chivas forward Antonio Martinez followed with a goal of his own four minutes later, finishing a pass from Christian Jimenez with a strong left footed shot past keeper Bill Gaudette.  </p>


        The Crew's frustrations to get any offense started came to an ugly head in the 70th minute.  Crew midfielder Eric Vasquez was tackled from behind by Chivas midfielder Milton Blanco, and a brief scuffle resulted.  Vasquez received a yellow card for his actions and Blanco was sent off with his second yellow card of the match.</p>


        Today's game dropped Columbus to 3-6-1 in the Reserve Division, while Chivas USA improved to 2-8-1. </p>
