Requejo, Williams among four preseason trialists released by DC United

Sheanon Williams - Vancouver Whitecaps

TRANSFER TRACKER STATUS: Released

Veteran defender Sheanon Williams, former US youth international fullback John Requejo Jr. and two 2018 SuperDraft selections have departed D.C. United without earning roster spots, the club confirmed on Monday.

United released their updated preseason roster as they prepare to return to Clearwater, Florida on Tuesday for the next phase of their preparations for the upcoming campaign. That list no longer includes Williams, Requejo and fourth-round draft picks Afonso Pinheiro and Rafael Andrade Santos.

Another trialist, Chris Odoi-Atsem, remains with the Black-and-Red, a sign that the second-year fullbackā€™s chances of returning to the club for a second season are solid.

Though his name is not included on the official roster at this time, midfielder Rob Vincent, another familiar face from last yearā€™s D.C. roster, is training with the team in hopes of earning a contract, reports BlackandRedUnited.com.

An eight-year MLS veteran, the 27-year-old Williams played for Vancouver last season, chipping in three assists in 15 league appearances, while Requejo, 21, is seeking a new club after departing Mexican side Club Tijuana at the end of last year.

While in Florida, D.C. United will take part in the Rowdies Suncoast Invitational tournament, facing the Philadelphia Union on Saturday and the Jacksonville Armada on Feb. 21 before jetting to Nevada to play new USL side Las Vegas Lights FC on Feb. 22.
