TRANSFER TRACKER STATUS: Reports

South American media outlets are linking D.C. United to transfer moves for two attacking players, Ecuadorian playmaker Christian Aleman and well-traveled Venezuelan striker Gelmin Rivas.

First spottedand documented in English by Black & Red United, who also posted highlight videos of the players, the rumor is that Aleman, 23, will join D.C. on loan for 2020 from Guayaquil-based side Barcelona SC. His track record includes Copa Libertadores and Copa Sudamericana action and three Ecuadorian Serie A titles.

Meanwhile Rivas, 30, is a free agent after playing out his contract at Uruguay's Boston River and United are said to be competing with several Colombian clubs for his signature. He’s spent several years of his career in the Middle East, highlighted by two trophies won at Al-Hilal in Saudi Arabia, and boasts a handful of Venezuelan national team caps.

The reports were later confirmed by Steven Goff of The Washington Post.

D.C. are in need of attacking reinforcements for 2020, with Wayne Rooney and Lucho Acosta having left the club and reports suggesting that Lucas “Titi” Rodriguez also will not return next season due to United failing to reach agreement with Estudiantes on a permanent transfer after his loan stint last season.
