TRANSFER TRACKER STATUS: Report

Emmanuel Boateng is back with the LA Galaxy and Giovani dos Santos isn’t going anywhere — yet, according to a pair of reports.

The Galaxy re-signed Boateng, who was out of contract at the end of the 2018 season, according to Corner of the Galaxy. The 24-year-old pacy Ghanaian winger had two goals and five assists with 12 starts in 27 appearances a year ago. Boateng has eight goals and 12 assists over three seasons with the Galaxy.

Although transferring a Designated Player would help alleviate a logjam for the Galaxy after the club re-signed Zlatan IbrahimovicGoal’s Ives Galarcep reports Gio dos Santos turned down an approach from abroad, although no team or region was listed.

Dos Santos' production has steadily decreased with the Galaxy since arriving via a transfer from Villarreal midway through the 2015 season. After 14 goals and 12 assists in 2016, Gio had six goals and three assists in 2017 and three goals and two assists a year ago, limited to 14 appearances due to injuries.

The Galaxy currently have four Designated Players (Gio, Ibrahimovic, Jonathan dos Santos, Romain Alessandrini) on their roster. They must bring that number down to three before the roster compliance date that occurs near the start of the 2019 season.
