Report: Whitecaps exploring trade for Revolution striker Kei Kamara

Kei Kamara - New England Revolution - Holds up three fingers for hat trick

The Vancouver Whitecaps may be trying to complete a trade for veteran New England Revolution striker Kei Kamara, a source told Vancouver newspaper The Province.

The 33-year-old Kamara has 98 career MLS goals, including 46 across his past three seasons, but in October said he had never completely settled in with the Revolution since joining the club from Columbus Crew SC in the middle of the 2016 campaign.

Kamara scored 12 league goals for New England in 2017, one fewer than Vancouver's Fredy Montero. But with Montero's future uncertain, Kamara is the latest forward said to pique the Whitecaps' interest after they signed Venezuelan Anthony Blondell.

In 2015, Kamara scored a career-high 22 goals to help Crew SC reach MLS Cup, but departed the following season amid an intra-squad controversy. Vancouver had been named as a potential landing before he was ultimately traded to the other coast.
