International tournaments can often serve as a shop window of sorts for clubs around the world, a situation that Real Salt Lake winger Jefferson Savarino could soon benefit from.

Sky Sports reported on Monday that Premier League sides West Ham United and Newcastle United are both interested in the Venezuelan, who’s currently at the Copa America. La Vinotinto are bogged down in group-stage play, having drawn Peru, 0-0, ahead of other matches against Brazil and Bolivia.

Savarino, 22, was originally acquired by RSL in May 2017 as a Young Designated Player on loan from Zulia FC. Since, he’s recorded 16 goals and 17 assists across 70 matches spanning the regular season and playoffs.

He has 10 caps for the Venezuela national team and one goal, which arrived last weekend in a 3-0 win over the US men’s national team earlier this month.

Should Savarino head to Newcastle, he’d follow in the footsteps of former Atlanta United midfielder Miguel Almiron. The Paraguayan, back in January, moved ahead of the EPL transfer deadline for an MLS-record outgoing transfer fee.
