According to a new report, one of the most consistent Houston Dynamo players the past couple seasons could be on the move.

Houston broadcaster Glenn Davis reported on Twitter on Wednesday that midfielder Alex "is set to sign in Asia in the next few days."

Alex, 28, joined the Dynamo in a trade from the Chicago Fire in April 2015. While the Brazilian's versatility was hyped when he signed with the Fire in 2012, most of his minutes in MLS were ultimately played as a defensive-minded midfielder. But in 2016, Alex showed more offensive production in his game, and in the early part of the 2017 season, he was successfully deployed as a No. 10, posting a career high of 11 assists this year in MLS regular season play.

According to a Dynamo spokesperson speaking to MLSsoccer.com, Alex, who is currently out of contract, has been offered a new contract by the team and it is a "significant increase" on his previous deal with the team. Should Alex leave MLS and sign with a foreign team, the Dynamo would retain his rights within the league.
