US men's national team forward Bobby Wood may be headed to MLS, with a report from The Athletic's Sam Stejskal saying he will join Real Salt Lake no later than this summer, when his current deal with Hamburg is set to expire.

According to the report, Wood has already agreed to a pre-contract with RSL to join the team in July, but Wood may try to end his contract with Hamburg early in order to join RSL for the start of the 2021 MLS season.

Wood is in desperate search for playing time, having only played 121 minutes this season and 153 over the course of the 2019-20 season. His playing time has decreased sharply since Hamburg got relegated to the 2. Bundesliga at the end of the 2017-18 season, and his appearances with the USMNT trended similarly. Wood has not played for the United States since October 2018, before Gregg Berhalter took the job.

RSL is not the first MLS team to take an interest in Wood; FC Cincinnati was linked to the forward last year.
