The Philadelphia Union are interested in acquiring Kilmarnock FC center back Stuart Findlay, according to a report from The Scottish Sun, rebuffing a potential deal at Heart of Midlothian.

Findlay, 25, came through Celtic FC’s academy before spending several years on the books at Newcastle United and securing a permanent move to the Scottish Premiership’s Kilmarnock. He’s been loaned to several lower-division sides and is now approaching 150 total appearances for Kilmarnock.

Findlay has scored once for Scotland’s national team, tallying in his sole cap to date. That came during an October 2019 drubbing of San Marino, one of UEFA’s smallest teams population-wise.

The Union have openly discussed their plans to add a center back this offseason, all after Mark McKenzie was transferred to Belgium’s Genk. Jakob Glesnes and Jack Elliott seem to be their first-choice pairing, while youngster Nathan Harriel provides another option.

Philadelphia won the Supporters’ Shield in 2020 for their first piece of silverware, and will soon enter the 2021 Concacaf Champions League following a Round of 16 draw against Costa Rica’s Deportivo Saprissa. In need of a center back, Findlay could offer a solution as Jim Curtin’s squad gets fine-tuned ahead of the 2021 season.
