UPDATE (WEDNESDAY, 3:15 PM ET)Philadelphia Union sporting director Ernst Tanner confirmed that the club are in contact with Mexico international Marco Fabian.

“It is true, the rumor about Marco Fabian that we are in touch with him and in negotiations, but we can’t say more at the moment,” Tanner said, via ProSoccerUSA. “We will come out when we have more news with that.”

“Taylor Twellman is good at his job,” Union head coach Jim Curtin added. “He’s kind of the Adam Schefter of our league. I’ll leave it at that. I’ll leave that where it is and see what happens in the coming days.”

TUESDAY, 1 PM ET: The Philadelphia Union are reportedly set to make a big splash ahead of the 2019 MLS season.

According to ESPN's Taylor Twellman, the Union are in "final discussions" to sign Mexico international midfielder Marco Fabian from Bundesliga side Eintracht Frankfurt.

Fabian, 29, has been linked to MLS multiple times in the past, with reports re-surfacing in November. He left Chivas de Guadalajara in Liga MX to join Frankfurt during the 2015-16 season, and scored seven goals in 23 Bundesliga appearances the following campaign. But he's played fewer than 500 minutes in Germany's top fight since, including only one 63-minute league shift this season.

Prior to his move to Germany, the 29-year-old had spent his entire club career in Mexico, mostly with Chivas but also a season at Cruz Azul. Internationally, Fabian has 42 caps and nine goals for El Tri on the senior level, and was a contributor off the bench in both the 2014 and 2018 FIFA World Cups.

Fabian could join a talented midfield in Philadelphia, led by Alejandro Bedoya and Haris Medunjanin, despite losing star midfielder Borek Dockal after last season.
