UPDATE THURSDAY, 1:40 PM ET: New York Red Bulls head coach Chris Armas commented on the club's reported interest in 18-year-old Danish striker Mathias Jorgensen, admitting no deal is done yet but both sides have interest.

TUESDAY, 1:30 PM ET: After setting a new MLS regular-season point record in 2018 en route to another Supporters' Shield, the New York Red Bulls are reportedly set to add to their attacking depth.

According to Danish site DT, Danish starlet striker Mathias Jorgensen is on his way to join the Red Bulls. Not to be confused with the Mathias Jorgensen (also Danish) who plays center back for Huddersfield Town in England, the 18-year-old currently plays for Danish side Odense BK; the report adds that the Red Bulls and Odense have agreed to a transfer fee for the forward. The Athletic's Kristian Dyer also confirms that there is interest and the player is headed to America.

Jorgensen, 18, has scored two goals in 13 appearances this season with Odense. He broke into the first team after starring in the U-19 league, scoring seven goals in four appearances. He also had a trial with Bundesliga outfit Borussia Monchengladbach and has six appearances for the Denmark U-19 side.

The Red Bulls are led in attack by Bradley Wright-Phillips, who will turn 34 in March. BWP has scored 17 goals or more over each of the last five seasons and has featured in at least 32 matches each campaign. Behind BWP, the Red Bulls have Brian White and Anatole Abang, though the latter hasn't made an appearance for the club since 2016.
