TRANSFER TRACKER STATUS: Report
The New York Red Bulls had another bid rejected for Hull City midfielder Leonardo da Silva Lopes, according to the Hull Daily Mail.
The latest offer was reportedly for $2.3 million and with the transfer window closing in England today, itâs unlikely the Red Bulls will be able to land the highly touted 21-year-old box-to-box midfielder.
The initial âseven-figure bidâ came early in January and that was quickly thwarted by the English Championship side.
âHeâs not for sale,â Hull coach Grant McCann said on Jan. 4. âItâs as simple as that. Heâs been here for four months and heâs growing every time he plays. Heâs getting better and better.
âHeâs got energy, pace, a chance of direction, heâs got a calmness. Heâs played 150 or something games at 21. It doesnât surprise me because heâs got so much more to come, but heâs not for sale.â
Lopes has been a mainstay in Hull Cityâs lineup this year, making 24 league appearances and two more apiece in the FA Cup and the EFL Cup. Heâs played the entire 90 minutes in eight of the last 10 English Championship matches.
The Portuguese youth international made his professional debut with Peterborough United in 2015 and played 108 games for the League One side before a move to Wigan in 2018.
Lopes made 14 appearances on loan with Gillingham FC before his August transfer to Hull City.
