The Montreal Impact will acquire 20-year-old Chilean winger Jeisson Vargas, according to Chilean journalist Bruno Sampieri.

December 28, 2017

It was first reported last week by a Chilean outlet that Montreal may land Vargas. The attacker is currently under contract with Italian side Bologna, where Impact owner Joey Saputo is owner and majority shareholder.

He spent the last six months on loan from Bologna to Chilean club Universidad Catolica, where he scored one goal in 11 league appearances. The club were reportedly looking to extend Vargas’ loan, but Bologna will instead send him to Montreal for the 2018 season.

Prior to signing with Bologna in July 2016, Vargas scored nine goals in 24 appearances and helped Universidad Catolica to a Chilean Primera title.
