Report: LA Galaxy's Uriel Antuna drawing interest from Benfica

Uriel Antuna - tight shot - Galaxy

TRANSFER TRACKER STATUS:Report

2019 has been a very good year for Uriel Antuna, and his performances for club and country are turning heads around the world.

The Mexican winger, on loan at LA Galaxy this year from Manchester City, has scored six goals and five assists in 29 MLS regular season appearances this year. The 22-year-old had high expectations after his move to Man City, but he's now getting interest from another European power, Portugal's Benfica, according to a report from Goal.com.

Benfica are the defending champions of Portugal's top flight, considered one of the big three clubs there and known as a seasoning ground for young prospects. Antuna's Mexico teammate Raul Jimenez played there before moving on to other clubs in Europe.

With Antuna on loan, the Galaxy seemingly would not play a deciding role in the player's future, but he has indicated this year he enjoys L.A. and would be comfortable continuing to play in MLS.

For now, Antuna's loan is set to end at the end of this year, and Goal reports Benfica are interested in buying Antuna outright from Man City.
