In the latest sign that Uruguay has become a market of interest for Major League Soccer scouts, one of the South American nation’s news outlets reported on Wednesday that striker Rodrigo Aguirre is being pursued by the LA Galaxy and Montreal Impact.

Currently property of Italian club Udinese, Aguirre is a Uruguayan youth international who moved to the Serie A side in 2014 but has spent recent years out and about on multiple loans to Italian, Swiss and Uruguayan clubs.

The 23-year-old found the most success in a 2017 stint at Nacional in his homeland, helping the side finish in the top three in their domestic league and qualify for Copa Libertadores.

Ovacion reports that despite a recent surgery on his meniscus, both LA and Montreal want Aguirre for a one-year loan acquisition with an option to purchase.
