TRANSFER TRACKER STATUS: Report

JAN. 8:Inter Miami and the LA Galaxy stand ready to offer Gareth Bale an escape from Real Madrid, according to a head-turning new report from Spanish outlet ElDesmarque.

Though he’s played key roles in the Merengues’ incredible four UEFA Champions League triumphs since 2013, the 30-year-old superstar has become a contentious figure at the La Liga giants.

RMFC signaled their desire to offload Bale over the summer but found themselves unable to do so, with a move to the Chinese Super League reportedly falling through and other big European clubs unwilling or unable to pay the wages and transfer fee seemingly required for the Welsh winger, who signed a hefty contract in 2013.

Despite that and his growing unpopularity with Madrid fans, Bale has continued to perform for his club this season. But team president Florentino Perez and the rest of Madrid’s leadership are now said to be prepared to cut their losses and get the dynamic attacker off their books, with Miami and the Galaxy named as potential MLS destinations in this month’s transfer window.

“All that’s left is to determine the price of the move and the usual details that hold up an official announcement,” writes ElDesmarque’s Manuel Valcarce, though reports elsewhere have also linked Bale to an English Premier League return with Chelsea.
