D.C. United and US youth national team midfielder Chris Durkin has already garnered interest abroad from Benfica and Sporting CP. Now another suitor has emerged.

According to Pablo Maurer of The Athletic, D.C. rejected a loan bid from Bundesliga side Bayer Leverkusen this past winter. The deal reportedly would have came with option to buy.

Durkin, 19, has played just 30 minutes this season across three substitute appearances. Last season, he made 23 appearances (16 starts) after making his MLS debut.

The Homegrown midfielder is expected to have a chance at more minutes in the immediate future as fixture congestion settles in. Saturday's trip to face the Colorado Rapids will mark the Black and Red's third game in a week.

Leverkusen currently sit ninth in the Bundesliga table, three points behind sixth place and its resulting spot in UEFA Europa League Qualifying next season.
