Report: Colorado Rapids midfielder Dillon Powers on trial in England with Reading

According to a report from The Sun, Colorado Rapids midfielder Dillon Powers is set to get a look from English Championship side Reading.

Powers, 24, has reportedly been given a trial by the Royals as he explores the possibility of a move to Europe.

A midfield linchpin for Colorado, Powers obtained an Italian passport in January, which means that he is an EU citizen and would not have to go through the same work permit process that has so often presented an obstacle for Americans trying to make the move to play in the United Kingdom.

Rapids Vice President of Soccer Operations Paul Bravo also recently told reporters at end-of-season media availability that "Europe is something that [Powers] would like to experience somewhere down the road in his career."

Powers, the 2013 MLS Rookie of the Year, has been a starter for the Rapids ever since being selected 11th overall in the 2013 MLS SuperDraft. He has played in at least 30 games in each of his three seasons in MLS and has collected 13 goals and 21 assists over the course of his burgeoning career. The Rapids are currently coming off a last-place finish in the Western Conference, with Powers having scored three goals and added six assists in 32 games (25 starts) in 2015.
